So, what's up with the title "Kicking Boxes?" A long time ago I was inspired by an outstanding leader whose philosophy on leadership included getting out in the field. Effective leaders need to get out from behind their desks and engage withe employees and "kick boxes" (maybe just figuratively). When you "kick boxes" you stir up the dust that lurks behind real work and when you engage with workers and teams with real conversations (not just telling them what to do) you can learn valuable information on how to make your organization better. Disruptive leadership goes well beyond the old Tayloristic and traditional command and control approaches and seeks to create learning organizations. The world is too complex for outdated modes of leadership. It's time to kick some boxes!
